Mental Health Resources

Student-Athlete Academic Services recognizes the current social, political, and public health landscape and its effect on our community. In response, we have compiled a list of resources to use for yourself or to offer your student- athletes who exhibit concerns during a tutoring session. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or comments at saastutoring@athletics.fsu.edu.

All students can receive free individual, couple, group, and crisis counseling over any major platform through the University Counseling Center. The Center helps students to resolve a variety concerns from homesickness to depression and anxiety.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is for employees at FSU to receive professional, short- term, counseling. SAAS tutors are qualified to receive these benefits.

For students who need psychiatric services, the Health and Wellness center treats physical, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They also diagnose and provide access to prescriptions if needed.

Ancillary to counseling, a wellness coach is provided for students to improve their physical and mental well-being, and their academic success. This individualized plan encourages students to take independent steps towards reaching their goals.

For students seeking a supportive community, Nole Central is a source to get connected with organizations on campus. Anything from running to gardening club, it covers a wide variety of interests. For students looking to support the BLM Movement, there are organizations on campus where students can educate themselves and affect action in their community. Many campus organizations are hosting Zoom meetings currently.

If a student- athlete expresses a need for counseling, a tutor can inform them that they can receive counseling through FSU specifically for student- athletes. Dr. Kaklamanos is a sport psychologist who works with student-athletes. They can contact her directly for an appointment.
